Thank You, Mr. Lincoln

Thank You, Mr. Lincoln

In February of 1995 my mom published an article in the Reader’s Digest called, “Thank You, Mr. Lincoln.” I thought it would be appropriate (although not altogether legal) to share it today. Normally I would just link to readersdigest.com, but apparently they do not maintain any sort of archive of past issues.

For those of you who don’t know, my mom and her family escaped from communist Bulgaria when she was 16 years old. She has written a book about it, but is still looking for a publisher. Anyway, here is the PDF to the Reader’s Digest article. Enjoy it before someone makes me take it down. Happy 200th Birthday, Mr. Lincoln.

I just learned about this article from some Bulgarian friends and was hoping to find it in my local library, but it’s not available any more. And the link doesn’t work either. Sad.
