About Tom
Bio
Tom Caswell is Open Education Policy Associate at the Washington State Board for Community and Technical Colleges (SBCTC). Tom’s current projects include running the Open Course Library, piloting a community college Open Learning Initiative (OLI) in Washington, and supporting the OPEN initiativefor Department of Labor C3T grantees. Prior to his position at the State Board, Tom worked for OpenCourseWare Consortium and at the Center for Open and Sustainable Learning (COSL).
Tom holds an Ed.S. in Instructional Technology and Learning Sciences from Utah State University. In 2009 he helped found TwHistory.org, a project to create and share online historical reenactments using Twitter. TwHistory continues to grow, and has received support from the Talis Incubator for Open Education.
Tom is married to Camille Caswell, a musician and vocalist. They have 3 children. In his spare time Tom enjoys cycling, photography, and spending time outdoors with family.

Tom has blogged for Computers.net, TechConsumer.com, and several Open Education blogs. These days Tom is most interested in Open Education, mobile learning, and educational uses for Twitter. He uses Twitter quite a bit, but if an idea takes more than 140 characters to express you’ll probably find it on his blog.
